SCUP 2016 Southern Symposium:
From Consolidations to Collaborations: The Future of Higher Education in Georgia
April 22, 2016 | Kennesaw State University–Marietta Campus | Marietta, GA
Much continues to be discussed, debated, and speculated about the best models for higher education. Should we pursue more extensive collaboration between institutions...or total consolidation? Does one solution fit all? How do these options optimize resources, leverage technology and virtual environments, and improve student performance and learning outcomes? During this symposium we move beyond speculation and theory and learn from several institutions in Georgia that are implementing some of these models. Come hear about their intent, approach, and current status.
Describe the purpose and key drivers behind most consolidations and collaborations and how consolidations and collaborations intend to benefit students.
Discuss key operational decisions that must be considered when consolidating or collaborating, including accreditation, programs, human resources, space, facilities, funding, technology, etc.
Identify the broader campus planning opportunities and issues that emerge in a consolidation.
Describe facility-specific opportunities to consolidate and share—in particular, a collaborative effort to combine library materials and resources off-site.
