From Planning to Realization: Metropolitan Community College’s New Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology

This program will tell the story of Metropolitan Community College’s (MCC) state-of-the-art building—the Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology (CAET). This building supports MCC's recently created workforce innovation division, which has been organized to respond quickly to the college's (and community's) evolving workforce development needs.
The CAET's planning team will discuss the extensive programming and planning process and consultants’ services undertaken to pinpoint needs and opportunities within the Omaha community. The executive director of workforce innovation will discuss how MCC’s new workforce innovation division and the CAET facility address those needs in both the short-term and the future.
A short building tour will be offered after the program.
Identify effective methods of integrating broad community input on specific needs into the design of a building and the activities of a workforce development division.
Describe lessons learned in complex facility planning and construction processes.
Summarize trends and recent developments in workforce training and training centers.
Explain the process for determining community partners.
