Vassar College Classroom Master Plan: One Year Later

Presenter(s): Rachel Kitzinger and Barbara Page, Vassar College; Michael Lauber, Ellenzweig Associates
Convener: Rob Snyder, Urban Design Group

In 1998 Vassar College commissioned a classroom master-plan project to guide a long-term classroom-upgrade process. Recommendations on classroom technology, layout, and finishes serve as a guideline for building projects and future work. Ellenzweig Associates completed the plan a year later after intensive fact finding and campus working sessions. Is the original plan working? A plan is, in some ways, only as good as its results, and initial good reviews do not necessarily indicate long-term success. Learn about the original classroom master plan, how it's holding up against "real-world experience," and how it has yielded unexpected results.
This knowledge resource from SCUP is a vendor presentation presented at the Society's thirty-sixth annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–36, in Boston, MA (USA), in July of 2001.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–36 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP-36, our digital archives of SCUP-36 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
