Master Planning for Higher Education Systems: A Case Study
Presenter(s): Elizabeth L. Bringsjord and Steven G. Poskanzer, State University of New York; Mary K. Sherwood and Walter V. Wendler, Texas A&M University System
The use of system master planning in demonstrating accountability and outcomes is receiving increasing attention. This session focuses on the current experience of two state systems (the Texas A&M University System and the SUNY System) in developing system-wide plans for the new millennium. One case study is largely "bottom up" with a five-year perspective (SUNY), while the other is largely "top down" with a 20-year perspective (TAMUS), but both use benchmarks and performance indicators to link to societal goals, campus declarations, and mission fulfillment. |
