Preparing for an Economic Downturn: Will You Be Ready?

Presenter(s): Cynthia C. Linz and Fred Mulligan , Cutler Associates, Inc.
Convener: Nancy McCray, University of North Texas

Educational institutions are enjoying the nation's current economic good health by building new facilities and improving existing ones. But how are we preparing for the inevitable downturn that will prompt tighter budgets and reduce the availability of capital funds? This session, designed for planners charged with monitoring and managing the long-range outlook for their institutions' physical plants, will review results of a SCUP-member survey that explored ways to capitalize on today's economy and best prepare for what lies beyond the horizon.
This knowledge resource from SCUP is a concurrent session presented at the Society's thirty-sixth annual, international conference and Expo, SCUP–36, in Boston, MA (USA), in July of 2001.

Audiocassettes of this and other SCUP–36 sessions are available for purchase here.

Due to our concern for the privacy of members of the face-to-face audiences at SCUP-36, our digital archives of SCUP-36 presentations end at the beginning of the question and answer portion of each session. Whenever we can, we not only provide streaming audio but the slide show or visual presentation used by the presenters, as well.
